SCHEDULE OVERLOAD

Over the next seven weeks, I've got 12 days of workshops plus the week-long Bead & Button show scheduled (if you plan on attending, stop by booth 114 and say hello!). With all that in mind, I've been doing my absolute best to keep my head down and my hands on clay for the past several weeks.  It doesn't help that the days are beautiful and the flowers are blooming and all I want to do is join my cat...curled up in a patch of sun, dreaming and dozing the day away.

That's not to say I'm not incredibly excited about what these weeks will bring!  Workshops in Philly and Colorado, two places I've never visited and am looking forward to seeing. Then it's on to Israel for 15 days and 7 one-day workshops.  Talk about an amazing opportunity...teaching in a part of the world so rich in history and meaning.  I'm thrilled!  And the icing on the cake with all of these workshops will be the chance to meet in person so many of the wonderful people I've "met" online.

HINGED METALWORK

This piece has been on my workbench for months...I get a few free minutes and work on it when I can.  Got the idea to use tiny hinges as connectors for bracelet pieces, and found the perfect vintage watch parts to use as tube rivets.  One of the best parts was texturing and adding a heat patina to the copper, but one of the things I forgot to do was curve the pieces slightly as I was hammering.  I'm not a bracelet gal, so I'm learning as I go!

BOTTLE CAP BONANZA

Another idea that's been percolating for quite a while has been re-purposing bottle caps.  As a chocoholic, I couldn't pass up some of these vintage caps <BG!>. I plan to remove the cork back, hammer them flat and use tin snips or my jewelers saw to cut out specific portions.  The I will rivet them to clay or use them as dangles in earrings or pendants.

SHOP OPEN

I know, it's taken me much longer than expected to open the shop back up!  So sorry and thanks to those who have sent me gentle reminders to re-open...ahem. I will leave it open in between workshops, and might as well apologize right now in advance for needing to close it off-and-on in the near future!
