PREMO! Color Charts and The Joy of Fearless Color Mixing!
Mix your colors fearlessly, because you can always re-work a color you don't like. Seriously. The only time I have scrap in the studio is when I'm being lazy, because I can recombine colors in a variety of ways. I can brighten, darken, mute or soften a color...or I can make it so vibrant it makes my teeth hurt. So go ahead...mix without fear and have fun!
Polymer designs can be enhanced with the shimmer and glow of metallic and pearl clays. One of my favorite approaches when customizing a color palette is to "ice" an existing color by adding Pearl to it. The bonus is that iced and non-iced colors contrast beautifully together, especially when building an imprint mokume stack.
Who doesn't love the glow of metallics? Mixing a metallic with a non-metallic color opens a whole world of color possibilities, but they are also especially effective as background in a color palette. When building an imprint mokume stack, I will often roll a very thin layer of metallic clay against a non-metallic color, which results in a shimmering "shadow" around that color.
